How fast will my broadband be?

We'll give you the fastest broadband your phone line can handle. The top speed will depend on the quality of your phone line and where you live.

How much can I download?

As much as you want! Our SimplyBroadband package has an unlimited download allowance giving you access to as much music, film and TV as you like.

Can I still make calls?

Yes, but if you make calls without a calling boost, you will be charged our standard rates. Remember that there is a £50 call usage limit as part of the SimplyBroadband package. We will let you know as you get close to this limit. For details on pricing please visit www.talktalk.co.uk/pricing

What if I don't want to make any calls at all?

You have the option to block all outgoing calls on your line to help further control your spend. You can do this by calling our customer services department. You will always be able to make calls to emergency services (999, 112). Contact us

Can I use this package without a phone?

Yes, if you only want to use our service for using the internet, you do not need to plug in a phone.

Why do you ask for my telephone number?

We need your phone number so we can check the phone line at your address. This also helps us to calculate the broadband speed you can get. If our checks show there isn't a working phone line at your address you may need a new one. This isn't a problem, you simply tell us a convenient date and time for one of our friendly engineers to visit.

Why do you charge line rental for broadband?

Line rental is the cost that all phone and broadband providers charge for an active phone line into your home. Some providers use phone lines that are owned by BT which can mean higher line rental. At TalkTalk we own all our telephone lines and that's why we can offer such great value broadband and competitive priced line rental. You could save even more by taking our annual Value Line Rental.

Can I keep my phone number?

Yes, most customers can keep their existing phone number. If you need a new phone line installed at your premises, then we will provide you with a new phone number.

What happens if I'm switching from another broadband provider?

Switching to TalkTalk couldn't be easier. All you need to do is choose the package you want and we take care of the rest. Your old service will be cancelled as soon as your TalkTalk service starts so there won't be any overlap and you won't be double-charged. Your previous provider will credit you for any unused line rental.

Can I keep my existing mobile number when I switch to TalkTalk?

Yes you can. Once you've received your SIM, just log in to My Account to switch your number.

How will my SIM be delivered?

Your TalkTalk SIM will be sent by Royal Mail 1st class post and will fit through your letterbox so there is no need to stay at home.

Will it work with my handset?

Your SIM will work with any unlocked handset. Just ensure you have ordered the correct SIM size for your handset when you place your order.

What calls are not included in minutes allowance for SIM?

Most UK mobile and UK landline numbers are included in your monthly allowance, however some numbers are chargeable as detailed below.

Do I have to be a TalkTalk customer to sign up get this SIM?

This SIM is exclusively for TalkTalk customers. Sign up to one of our totally unlimited broadband packages and add 3GB SIM when you place your order.

What happens at the end of the 12 month contract?

At the end of the 12 month contract the tariff will become £15.50 per month with the following allowances: 2GB data, 700 minutes, unlimited texts.

How do I cancel my order if I change my mind?

If for any reason you change your mind before your service goes live, please call us on 0345 172 0046.

Why can't I buy Tesco Broadband any more?

On 7th January 2015, Tesco completed the sale of its broadband and homephone business to TalkTalk. This means that later this year, TalkTalk will become the provider of your broadband and homephone service.

What does this mean for existing customers?
You will not experience any changes to your service for the time being. We will continue to be the provider of your broadband and homephone service and are here to answer any queries you may have. We are working on the transfer of your service to TalkTalk and we expect this to take place over several months. We are committed to ensuring that you will be kept fully informed throughout this period of time and will be in contact with more information and the choices available to you before the transfer.

What does this mean for new customers?
If you are not currently a Tesco Broadband & Homephone customer, you can sign up to one of TalkTalk's great offers. We'll do everything we can to try and give you a great experience online but the speed you experience is likely to be affected by certain things outside of our control like the distance your home is from the telephone exchange, the specification of your PC and the condition of the wiring in your home. TV Boosts

Additional monthly cost, billed in advance. Boosts range from £5.00 to £40.00 a month. All Boosts have a min. 1 month commitment. Once added, you'll continue to receive the Boost until you opt-out or your contract ends. If we are unable to provision the Boost from the start of the billing period, you'll be charged the pro-rated amount. You must give 48hrs notice to remove a Boost. TV Boost structures and prices are subject to change. Programmes and channels are subject to change. Channels on all purchased TV Boosts are available via the TalkTalk Player and the YouView Guide. For boosts to be available instantly, please activate on screen.

Available Channels

All channel availability is subject to geographical location, signal strength, aerial reception and a suitable connection to your working TV. You can check the Freeview signal strength of your home, by going to http://www.freeview.co.uk and carrying out a coverage check.

Catch up available for certain channels only and not all programmes available on channels where catch up is available.

Monthly allowance

There is a monthly unbilled allowance applied to all TalkTalk packages. If you exceed your allowance you will be barred from making outgoing calls from your TalkTalk landline (excluding calls to the emergency services) and you will be unable to rent films from TalkTalk Box Office. You will remain liable for all charges in excess of your allowance limit. Please check My Account for further details.

Anytime calls

Applies to UK numbers starting 01/02/03 only (excludes calls to Channel Islands, dial-up internet, indirect access & all other numbers). Max 60 minutes/call then charged at standard rate. The standard rate for calling UK landlines is 11.5p/minute. Calls to 084, 087, 09 and 118 numbers have an access charge of 7.5p per minute. All other chargeable calls subject to 17p connection fee.

Unlimited calls to TalkTalk customers

We offer unlimited calls between most TalkTalk customers. Unfortunately this offer doesn't relate to calls made through a TalkTalk four-digit access code or dialler box. Value Line rental

Value Line rental (VLR) is a 10% saving on standard line rental available to customers paying in advance for 12 months by debit/credit card, or a 15% saving when paying in advance for 18 months. Standard early termination charges still apply. Customers currently on discounted line rental will lose their existing discount. Existing customers already on VLR who upgrade to a different TalkTalk package will incur full line rental cost at the end of the VLR initial term. TalkTalk reserves the right to charge line rental to the full price should the initial upfront payment be reversed or charged back.

Sky Entertainment Channels

Sky Entertainment channels included: Sky 1, Sky 2, Sky Living, Real Lives, Sky Arts and Sky Sports News. Channels subject to change. Channels only available to Plus TV customers with line speeds higher of 5Mb or more. Customers with speeds between 3-4.99Mb will get PictureBox Films with their Plus TV package instead.

TalkTalk Box Office

TalkTalk Box Office films are an additional cost. Movie rentals typically range from £2.50 to £5.50 per film. Movies are available for a 48-hour period. Charges for selected titles will be added to your next monthly bill.

TV Boosts

Additional monthly cost, billed in advance. Boosts range from £5.00 to £40.00 a month. All Boosts have a min. 1 month commitment. Once added, you'll continue to receive the Boost until you opt-out or your contract ends. If we are unable to provision the Boost from the start of the billing period, you'll be charged the pro-rated amount. You must give 48hrs notice to remove a Boost. TV Boost structures and prices are subject to change. Programmes and channels are subject to change. Channels on all purchased TV Boosts are available via the TalkTalk Player and the YouView Guide. For boosts to be available instantly, please activate on screen.

Available Channels

All channel availability is subject to geographical location, signal strength, aerial reception and a suitable connection to your working TV. You can check the Freeview signal strength of your home, by going to http://www.freeview.co.uk and carrying out a coverage check.
