For us, for the city and for the country
York will be Britain's first ultrafast city.
We're building a revolutionary Fibre network right to your door which means you'll be able to do more online than ever before. We'll be starting work on the network soon and you'll see our engineers out and about getting your streets ready for the new network. When it's ready in Summer 2015 you could be enjoying ultrafast broadband speeds.
What does ultrafast mean?
Until you get to feel it for yourself, here's what ultrafast means. It'll boost broadband speeds up to a hair-raising 1,000Mb (1 Gig). That's over 100 times faster than the UK's standard broadband, giving you download speeds you could only dream of - an HD movie in 7 seconds or 100 songs in just 3 seconds.
Ultrafast business broadband is landing too.

What will customers be able to do with 1 Gig ultrafast broadband?
1 Gig is seriously fast – the current average UK broadband speed is 9 mbps. With 1 Gig, 200 friends could come round and all watch their own HD movie. You could download an HD movie in 7 seconds. Most importantly you and your family could do everything you could ever want, without worrying about buffering.
What are the timelines for York and beyond?
